Koha

What is Koha?

From koha.org :

Koha is a full-featured open-source ILS. Developed initially in New Zealand by Katipo Communications Ltd and first deployed in January of 2000 for Horowhenua Library Trust, it is currently maintained by a team of software providers and library technology staff from around the globe.

Work I have done on Koha

  • Created a new Intranet Template set.
    • Being a student of interface design, I created a new Librarian interface using a tab/subtab paradigm.
  • Wrote a system to handle rotating collections.
    • Koha had no system in place to track collections of items that move from library to library, so I added one.
  • Wrote a system to handle Clubs and Services such as Summer Reading Clubs and E-mail Lists
    • No ILS that I know of has a built in way to handle Reading Clubs and such, so I added one to Koha.
  • I’ve also added scores of bug-fixes, small features, and interface tweaks.
